4.0L V8 biturbo engine
Advanced performance comes from a high-output engine with a remarkably compact size. The 416-hp 4.0L biturbo V8 is more responsive than some larger engines, making 100% of its 450 lb-ft of peak torque available from 2,000-4,750 rpm, for a 5.6-second 0-60 rush and brisk response at any speed. And its innovative design combines racing-derived technology, from its turbocharger layout to its low-friction cylinder walls.
ECO Start/Stop system
An ECO Start/Stop system automatically shuts off the engine at stoplights and other idle situations, to save fuel and reduce emissions. As soon as the driver lifts off the brake, the engine instantly restarts, for immediate acceleration response. The ECO Start/Stop system can also be shut off by the driver at any time.
"Hot inside V" turbocharger configuration
For better performance and packaging, the V8's twin turbos are placed inside the "V" of the engine. The layout sends the compressed charge from each turbo to its bank of cylinders via an extremely short path, with near-zero pressure loss or turbo lag. The high-pressure turbos spool up quickly to provide up to 14.5 psi of boost. The setup is also highly efficient from intake to exhaust, with liquid-cooled intercoolers and close-mounted catalysts that reach peak efficiency in seconds.
Adaptive suspension
Electronically adjustable shock absorbers can vary their damping rate not only via driver-selected modes, but automatically in critical driving situations. By switching from Comfort to Sport mode, the driver can firm up the handling characteristics of the suspension. During highly dynamic movements, the vehicle's Electronic Stability Program (ESP) can instantly adapt the settings automatically, working strategically with ESP's throttle and brake intervention to enhance stability.

Power tilt/sliding glass sunroof
The standard G-Class sunroof features heat-rejecting tinted glass. At the touch of a button, the sunroof tilts up at the rear for ventilation, or slides open for a breezy view of the sky. The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) can automatically detect a substantial loss of tire pressure in any wheel and alert the driver via a warning message in the multifunction display. The advanced TPMS can also display the numeric tire pressure for each mounted wheel.
Rain-sensing windshield wipers
Rain-sensing windshield wipers can automatically adjust the intermittent front wiper frequency based on the amount of rainfall.
GUARD 360 antitheft alarm system
The antitheft alarm system can arm automatically when you lock your Mercedes from the outside. It can sound the horn and flash the exterior lights if a door, trunk or hood is opened while armed. New GUARD 360 can take photos with the Surround View cameras if it detects movement of or in the vehicle. Active Brake Assist
Radar-based technology can alert you if you're approaching a vehicle ahead, or even some stationary objects, at a speed and distance that suggest a collision is likely. As soon as you start to brake, it can automatically provide an appropriate level of braking to help prevent a collision or reduce its severity. If you fail to respond, it can also initiate braking automatically at a range of driving speeds. The system can also detect and react to crossing pedestrians at typical city speeds.
