The AMG GT R was developed to be a pure distillation of GT3 racing technology in streetable form. Strategic weight reduction, higher output, active aero, sport tires, and numerous performance innovations create a pure sports car that's more capable in every way, including the skill to thrill.
More air in, more power out
Bigger turbos, nested between the cylinder banks, force-feed 19.6 psi of max boost to reshaped cylinders and heads. From remapped engine management to a lightened flywheel, each of its 577 hp carries less than 6.5 lb of the car it can rocket to 60 in 3.5 seconds.
Massive torque, in a lightweight housing
The front-mid-engine/rear-transaxle layout delivers an ideal 47.3:52.7 front/rear weight balance. Transmitting massive power between them, a carbon fiber torque tube is more rigid yet some 20 lbs lighter. The carbon fiber front fenders, roof, front splitter and underbody panels further slash weight.
Racing-bred suspension, track-tuned and road-ready
Adjustable coil-over springs team with the 3-stage adaptive damping of AMG RIDE CONTROL and active rear-wheel steering for unshakable control on road or track. Six AMG DYNAMIC SELECT drive modes let you dial in shifting, damping, exhaust sound and more.

Grippy DINAMICA microsuede wraps the steering wheel and trims the AMG Performance seats. Console controls evoke the biturbo V8 powerplant, and invoke its power. From the sound system to the structural braces concealed below, even the weight-saving measures assert that AMG never takes control lightly
Heated power AMG Performance seats with memory
Directly inspired by racing, the deeply contoured AMG Performance seats feature integrated head restraints with aluminum accents and AMG badges. In addition to the customary power adjustments, the substantial side bolsters in the cushion and backrest are also power-adjustable for optimal lateral support. A 3-position memory system for each seat also stores the power steering column and side mirror settings for the driver. Three-stage heating is standard.
Touchpad controller
A touchpad central controller offers a variety of ways to access the numerous on-screen entertainment, navigation and convenience menus and features. Along with adjacent one-touch keys for major functions, the touchpad responds to a variety of finger motions, including swipe, pinch and even handwriting.

Eight air bags
A system of eight advanced air bags is designed to offer protection in a variety of accident types. Dual-stage front air bags are augmented by knee air bags for both the driver and passenger. And each seating position is provided with a side-impact thorax/pelvis air bag and curtain-type head protection air bag.
Active Brake Assist
Radar-based technology can alert you if you're approaching a vehicle ahead, or even some stationary objects, at a speed and distance that suggest a collision is likely. As soon as you start to brake, it can automatically provide an appropriate level of braking to help prevent a collision or reduce its severity. If you fail to respond, it can also initiate braking automatically at a range of driving speeds. The system can also detect and react to crossing pedestrians at typical city speeds.
