Electromechanical Power Steering With Direct-Steer
Advanced electromechanical power steering delivers quicker response in corners, easier maneuvering at low speeds, along with precise on-center feel and straight-line stability. The Direct-steer feature automatically varies the steering ratio based on how far you turn the steering wheel. It provides quicker steering and lighter effort while parking while maintaining excellent directional stability and crisp feedback at higher speeds.
3.0L V6 Biturbo Engine
Generating 362 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque, the 3.0L V6 combines twin turbos and numerous other advances to lower emissions and fuel consumption while increasing performance. In a single millisecond, the rapid-multispark ignition can fire up to four times, while the high-pressure Direct Injection precisely tunes the ultrafine fuel spray. A lightweight diecast-alloy block, widely variable valve timing, reduced friction, and clever "on-demand'' ancillary components further boost efficiency.
9G-TRONIC Automatic Transmission
With a greater range of ratios and shorter steps between gears, the 9-speed automatic changes gears more quickly but nearly imperceptibly. Along with a more seamless delivery of power, the lighter, more versatile transmission enhances quiet riding comfort and fuel-efficiency. The electronic selector and shift paddles let you control all gear changes with your hands on the steering wheel. And drivers can vary the shift modes via the innovative DYNAMIC SELECT system.
ESP Dynamic Cornering Assist
An advanced torque-vectoring system adds control and precision in turns via targeted rear-wheel braking. If the vehicle's Electronic Stability Program (ESP) detects understeer while cornering, Dynamic Cornering Assist applies the brake to the inside rear wheel, temporarily shifting torque distribution in favor of the outside wheel. This causes the vehicle to gently pivot in response, putting it on a line of travel, or vector, better suited to the turn.

18-Inch Twin 5-Spoke Wheels
Elegantly detailed 18-inch wheels feature five pairs of tapering spokes with grey-painted inlays, set off by machine-finished surfaces. Active Brake Assist
Radar-based technology can alert you if you're approaching a vehicle ahead, or even some stationary objects, at a speed and distance that suggest a collision is likely. As soon as you start to brake, it can automatically provide an appropriate level of braking to help prevent a collision or reduce its severity. If you fail to respond, it can also initiate braking automatically at a range of driving speeds. The system can also detect and react to crossing pedestrians at typical city speeds.
Car-to-X Communication
In the future, cars will be able to communicate with each other over the airwaves. In the E-Class, the future starts today. With its industry-leading Car-to-X Communication, every new E-Class can automatically alert a central notification system of certain dangers, from detected wheelspin to the use of hazard flashers or even windshield wipers. The system can then alert other drivers with Car-to-X via in-dash displays or announcements, allowing precautions to be taken before reaching the hazard.
PRE-SAFE®
A Mercedes-Benz first, PRE-SAFE® can detect instability during certain vehicle maneuvers that suggest a collision or rollover is imminent. It can then tighten the front seat belts, adjust the front passenger seat, and close the windows and sunroof, all in an effort to better prepare the occupants and restraints in the moments before a collision. If no accident occurs, the seat-belt tensioners reverse, and you simply readjust your seat, open the sunroof and continue on your way.
Rearview Camera
For a better view of what's behind your vehicle when reversing, a high-resolution camera displays a live view on the central in-dash screen. Steering-dependent active guidelines on the screen help you back into a parking space, and you can select between wide-angle and even wider 180-degree views.
